Recognizing that Hebrew School is an academic after-school program, our teachers endeavor to create an engaging, hands-on learning environment to stimulate and inspire every child.
Chana Fogelman Head of School
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia to a family dedicated to Jewish community, Chana began her involvement in Jewish education and outreach at an early age.
Passionate about providing high standards for after school Jewish education, Chana directed Hebrew Schools in New Jersey and New York City before she founded Village Hebrew in Los Angeles in March, 2016.
Wife and mom of four, Chana enjoys spending time with family and friends and is famous for her freshly baked challah on Friday.
Chana co-founded Village Synagogue with her husband Zalmy in 2016.

Rabbi Zalmy Fogelman
Rabbi & Co-Founder
Born in Worcester, Mass and raised in the city of angels, Zalmy’s family is rooted in outreach and education.
Dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity and enhancing Jewish life, Zalmy’s has run Jewish Holidays in Goa, India, summer camps in Ukraine, and educational programs in Johannesburg, SA.
Zalmy received his Rabbinical ordination in Los Angeles in 2008.
As a father of three, Zalmy understands the need for progressive educational opportunities for our youth, and believes it plays a key role in ensuring a passionate, involved Jewish future.
Inspired by the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Zalmy co-founded Village Synagogue and Village Hebrew in his hometown of Los Angeles with the vision to build a vibrant Jewish community.
